ISO Accreditations
EAG is pleased to announce the successful implementation and award of the international standard, ISO 45001:2018 which specifies an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system.
The certification complements our two existing ISO accreditations; ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management) which was awarded in 2018 and ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management) which was awarded in March 2020.
EAG recognised that to survive in today’s competitive marketplace, we needed to manage and improve our already effective Environment, Quality and Safety systems. Therefore, a year ago we pledged to achieve ISO 45001 status within 12 months to demonstrate our commitment to continuous improvement. Our investment into each of these three accreditations refines the way we work, it offers transparency and promotes our corporate social responsibility. Furthermore, it impacts how employees and prospective clients perceive our business and make us more attractive to prospective clients and future employees.
During the process to acquire these three standards, a lot of time and commitment was applied to ensure we were successful with our applications, none more so than from the internal HSEQ team. Although we retained high standards of Environment, Quality & safety practices, the process to evaluate our existing procedures to ensure they aligned to the new requirements was of the uppermost importance and a comprehensive appraisal was carried out by the team.
The transition of our safety system over to the ISO 45001:2018 system was a relatively smooth process. This was due to existing comprehensive documentation procedures and the proactive attitudes of our employees regarding Health & Safety and our HSEQ systems.
We have a progressive continual improvement plan in mind and having a fully effective HSEQ system in place is paramount to our business. Therefore, the implementation of the three standards has benchmarked our future performance and objectives.
Grant Young, Health & Safety Manager, would like to thank Heather Foy, HSEQ coordinator, for her continued effort to ensure the process to obtain all three standards was smooth and completed in the timelines agreed. Further appreciation to the Projects departmental managers and the effort by John Seeley to ensure the internal audit process was brought up to date. Further appreciation goes out to the Site manager Andy Breedon and the Design, sales and estimating departments.
Thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly to ensure we achieve our goals.
Nick Tappin, Finance Director, commented:
‘’As a relatively new Director at EAG I have been very impressed with how the Health and Safety and Quality sides aspects of the business are run. Health and Safety takes a very high priority right through the organisation already. Achieving the ISO 45001 standard is a very testing accomplishment, it reinforces already proven processes and puts down a path for continued improvement. Well done team!’’
Daren Clifton, Construction Director, commented:
“As the Construction Director of EAG, I have become acutely aware of our current and prospective Clients desires to engage with Specialist Sub-Contractors who are prepared to go that one step further than having just a policy and management system in place for HSEQ.
In EAG gaining ISO: 9001, 14001 and 45001, we show that we have had the commitment, dedication, and procedures in place to gain these accreditations and that we will continually improve our HSEQ processes, to ensure we maintain the highest standards possible.
This was a great team effort from all aspects of the business, and we should be proud of this achievement”.
